Thanks to you lovely lot for your lovely messages over the past few days. I’ll get my head around replying soon, and they’re hugely appreciated. I’m mainly heartbroken for this great person’s family and friends who lost a very special one very quickly. So I’m not going to ramble, because this isn’t about me - I just want to say two things. First thing: if you feel like you want do a nice thing, pop a donation - any size, even £1 will help - to @breastcancernow. Or just go and check out what they’re doing, give them a share and so on. And the second thing is: check your chesticles. Whether they’re boobs or pecs, give ‘em a check and if you’re even slightly, minutely like, ‘What is that?’, go get a doctor to look at it. I did this recently and felt like an idiot to begin with, but was very firmly told by my doctor that it’s better to be safe. That’s not to in any way say that the person who died should’ve/did/didn’t check themselves - just that if I have even a whisper of a chance to encourage something we know can save lives, that seems like the right thing to do. And third thing is go squeeze your favourite people, just because. That’s three things - you got the last one for free.

Here’s a little sneaky-peeky at the audiobook. I’ve had my first listen to it today, and can confirm that it is seven hours of glory. If you find Northern and Midlands women talking loss glorious, which I’m going to assume you do… As ever, @around.robyn and I react to loss - and everything - in entirely opposite ways. Even since It’s Your Loss came out, Robyn’s been out and about, seeing family, going to events and galavanting, while I’m at home on a five-day recharge lie-down-athon that shows no sign of stopping. But it’s in that oppositeness that we came to truly understand one another, and through that, start to understand our grief.

No word of a lie, on Saturday morning after publishing day, I stayed in bed until 4pm. Yes, that’s four in the afternoon. Generally, I’m a get-up-and-put-clothes-on sort of a girl, but that day I did neither and it was very much exactly what the doctor ordered. The doctor was me, Dr Crap, and the orders were: stay in bed for at least eight hours longer than usual, watch Schitt’s Creek even though you pretty much know all the words, and nap frequently, if not constantly, with the lazed abandon of a sloth on Night Nurse.

Do you ever work and worry so hard that you don’t even realise how tired you are? Giving myself a few days this week to ease back into it, because jeeeeeez, this book lark is a wonderful but exhausting shebang.

The thing that @around.robyn and I repeated most throughout the whole book-writing process was, ‘I just hope that it’s helpful’ and the messages you’ve sent us today have genuinely made us feel like it is. Swipe for a handful (all shared with permission).

If you have the book already, you’ll have seen our lengthy acknowledgements. Because so many people have been instrumental in making it happen. To @taffyagent and @curtisbrownbooks for taking us on and pushing us to pitch for it. To the team @dkbooks for taking a chance on us. To @around.robyn, my partner in crime and the only person I could conceivably have written this book with. Sometimes our oppositeness really comes into its own. And mostly, most belovedly, to my Mum and Robyn’s Nan - Berenice and Barbara - the two women who would have been so proud and known just what to say today. The people we had to lose before we could write about loss. They were our very best women, and I know we’re both so grateful to have had them in our lives.

Loss is an absolute shocker, that’s for sure. But if you guys have shown us anything today it’s that on the other side of it can come some bloody good stuff. Now I’m off to meet my best gal for a large cocktail to toast you all with. And then a really big sleep.

ad Telly-chat with me… Hands up if you’ve watched, re-watched and are planning another watch of Succession before season three comes out in October? If the recent chat in my DMs is anything to go by, that is most of you, and that’s how I know you’re my people. Succession hopped straight into my top three series of all time about two episodes in, and that is no mean feat.

I only have to hear the pounding piano theme tune and I get excited that it’s starting. The power plays, the family feuds, Greg… Argh, I love it all. I just watched the season three trailer again and got that, ‘Oooooo, this is gonna be GOOD!’ feeling. Will Logan outplay everybody? What about what happened in the UK? Does anybody in the family like anybody else in the family? Is Greg in fact an undercover genius..?

Giving this one a spot on the grid because it feels like a little moment. Our faces in Sunday Times Style, talking about the things we hope It’s Your Loss might help some people with.

We knew from the outset that we wanted the book to be about more than bereavement, because we’ve both learned that the way we respond to losses all relate to one another so closely. I really believe that you go through the same mini grieving process, no matter the thing you lost, just on different scales. And one of the most complicated of those losses has to be estrangement - the loss you choose, but might not necessarily want. Grief for something that’s gone, but still there. Grief for a situation, time and relationship that can’t be made to work. Robyn writes so beautifully about her estrangement, and I know how tough it is to get those things out for people to look at. So I’m applauding my excellent friend over here, doffing my cap, slow-clapping and doing one of those nods that people give each other at the end of blockbuster movies.

If you’re estranged, bereaved, or living through any kind of loss, I really bloody hope this book will help. It’s our little emotional, thoughtful, sometimes silly, flag in the sand for anybody who needs to feel like there’s a way through it. Link in my bio if you want to see more.

In a month, if nothing goes wrong, we'll be exchanging contracts on our sale and our purchase. Or frantically arranging a sabbatical to the in-laws/the North while we wait to get into Foxberry Towers II. I'm still totally torn about where to use our refurb money though if we do get the new house. It's limited so not sure if we should prioritise the loft or a side return... I'm now veering towards loft conversion. It's an absolute rollercoaster being inside my head, I can tell you.
